Meet Cara, ma, lpc
Creating a safe space for you.
I’m a Michigan-based Christian therapist specializing in anxiety & depression, women’s issues, surviving trauma & helping first responders and other service personnel.
I want you to truly hear this:
You are enough. You have purpose. You have strength.
This is a place safe place to discover all those.
My approach is rooted in compassion and connection.
We are human beings designed for connection. I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship to foster healing, growth, and lasting change.
As a Christian counselor, I seek to develop ethical & biblically professional relationship with my clients in order for you gain the best results from therapy. This is based on the following scriptures. In John 13:34, Jesus tells the disciples “Love one another: in the way that I have loved you, love one another.” Additionally, 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 tells us: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” It is my hope that you would experience the healing love and comforting presence of God the Father.
How I work
“Come as you are and I’ll meet you there” is the basis of my therapeutic approach.
Theoretically, I prefer a Person-Centered approach, but I tailor our work together to meet your unique needs. I draw from person-centered approaches including Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Christian Counseling and Mindfulness—but more than anything, I seek the approach that best fits you and we’ll decide that together.
My Person-Centered approach provides a safe, empathetic, and nonjudgmental environment where you can begin to reconnect with yourself. Grounding exercises, such as sensory awareness or focused breathing, support your ability to regulate overwhelming emotions without judgment, fostering self-awareness and growth. Since Person-Centered Theory emphasizes your autonomy and capacity for healing, grounding empowers you to take an active role in your own well-being from the very first session.
